Mise en place in Tribeca

"I like to mix uptown opulence with downtown irreverence," Fred Castleberry told me during a recent visit to his beautiful Tribeca store. 

Today, I'm excited to introduce a new element to this newsletter— video features! These videos will showcase brands I believe are pushing the boundaries in menswear and fashion and, frankly, brands I love. Our first feature is on F.E. Castleberry.

For years, I've been captivated by Fred of F.E. Castleberry's style and the brand and world he's built around the clothes. Recently, I had the pleasure of stepping into his remarkable store, nestled just off West Broadway in Manhattan. The space reflects Fred's creative vision, with its pink walls, hand-painted tile floor (a masterpiece by Fred himself), and whimsical boar's head donning a top hat. Every book and piece of art is meticulously placed, exemplifying mise en place.

Fred dresses everybody from artists to bankers and has a fresh perspective on the world of tailoring, "I like to major in things that other people minor in," he told me.
